Performance

Oscar performed an original monologue, “I saw queer heaven once,” in Cherry Grooves, co-produced by National Queer Theater and Arts Project of Cherry Grove. The monologue was selected to be performed for First Kiss Theatre’s Play-Mates podcast.

Oscar performed an original poem, “Queerphobia; or, Love, Restricted” at the Los Angeles County Youth Poet Laureate Awards Ceremony in 2018.

Oscar was commissioned to write and perform an original poem, “Justice, called Revolution” at the 2018 John Anson Ford Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Los Angeles Commission on Human Relations. The ceremony honored Los Angeles activists. The poem was published online in 2021 on Transforming Horizons: Stories from the QTAPI Community, presented by API Equality-LA (APIELA) and Viet Rainbow of Orange County (VROC).

Oscar was commissioned to write and perform an original poem, “Sermon of the Sowers”, inspired by Octavia E. Butler’s novel, Parable of the Sower, alongside other artists and creators at The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in the President’s Series: Octavia E. Butler’s Parables: A Music Talk with Toshi Reagon in 2020.
